You Rule.

Some days I really enjoy being in Idaho, even being in Rexburg. But other days I want to run so very fast away from this teeny tiny town that has absolutely nothing in it, and the closest mall has a Macys the size of my living room, and that mall is 30 minutes away. But the truth is, I dont even care about the small mall, or the fact that everything closes at 11 pm. All I want in my life, all I NEED in my life is......YOGURTLAND!! You see, I have a bit of an obsession. When I go home for a week, I will be there every single day - the guy who works there begins to recognize me. I am not ashamed.

If you ask me what I get, pretty much everyone in my family or anyone who has come home with me can tell you, I never change, "if it aint broke, don't fix it" and change is scary! What if I didnt like it? Then I would have a negative experience with Yogurtland (but that could never happen because everything is so delicious!)

So here it is, next time you are at Yogurtland this is what you get:
Orginal Tart

Strawberries (or blackberries which ever look better)

Chocolate Chips

&&&

MOCHI!

(if you omit the mochi, it would be like forgetting the peanut butter in a PB&J sandwich, it is just not right)

This is the last time I want to Yogurtland, and I long for it every second of everyday - no joke.

Summer, is that you?

It has actually been getting "warm" here lately! (meaning in the 40s and raining but we take what we can get) So I have been getting very excited at the possibility of Summer. I even went a walk on Sunday, granted I was bundled up and we had to cut it short because I was freezing but I went outside and it was magical!

Wellll the truth is, it is NOT summertime. But boy do I wish that was the truth, I need sunshine in my life. Because this will be my last summer in Rexburg I thought I would just write a quick like of why I love Rexburg summers so very much:
1. warmth!
2. color on my skin (imagine that)
3. flip-flops - not on campus of course :)
4. sports - flag football, lacrosse, softball, soccer
5. warm summer nights
6. bonfires at the dunes/beaverdick
7. swimming/bridge jumping
8. clear skin (I am a sun baby and when it is dry and cold my face goes CRAZY!)
9. otter pops
10. bbq food
11. THE 4TH OF JULY!!!!
12. the sound of the whistles at the fields when my window is open
13. doing my homework outside
14. did I mention warmth?!
15. sun dresses (NO tights)
16. painted toes
17. green grass
18. Snoasis!
19. picnics at Porter Park
20. walks on Sundays
21. the swimming hole :)
22. oh ya, and SUNSHINEEE!!!!!
I cannot wait for Summer to get here already!
P.S. Only three weeks left in this semester, and then one more semester and I will offically be a college graduate! WOOO!

Snow and Superbowl

We had our ward opening social a couple weeks ago, it was so fun we went sledding and then got to eat yummy food. It was at our high council members house, he runs a church welfare farm so there was plenty of space and a gigantic hill!

Here we go! (Okay the truth is, I am not even on that tube train.)

We are pretty fantastic
Me, Brooke, and Sydney
Oh and guess what?!

MY GREENBAY PACKERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!

I can't wait for February 6th, 2011. We are going to kick so Steelers butt :)

GO PACK GO!

Slacker!

I know it has been forever! If it wasn't for my dear friend Dara harassing me into updating my blog it would probably be another 6 months :) Thank you Dara.

Where to start? This semester I am off track but I decided to stay in Rexburg so that I could have a social life. As it turns out staying this semester meant that I was called as the new Relief Society President. Yes, you read that correctly I, Anessa Humes, am Relief Society President! Crazy huh? I think so. I know it is only a student ward so it doesn't totally count but it is still tons of work. I am enjoying it more and more everyday. I am learning so much about myself, things I need to work on and I am also discovering some of my talents and strengths and that has been such a blessing. I have also been able to meet many new people within the ward and it has been so much fun!

I am on flag football team and we are pretty much amazing!! Our team name is Gouda, as in "my favorite's gouda" from the movie She's the Man. That movie is constantly quoted in our apartment and the name just felt right. Our team is the greatest, we have 9 girls on the team and about 7 coaches. Haha. Those boys are amazing to come out and help us every week. The other week I got a touchdown and man was I excited! In all the sports I have played in my life I never get to be the one who scores points so I was stoked!!! We just won our quarter final game last night and next week we go onto semi's and then FINALSS!! I can't wait, GO GOUDA!

Speaking of football, I am in a fantasy football league. But the special part about this league is that it is the Elder Quorum league. HAHA. I am the only girl and am in 2nd place right now. It is pretty funny. Mostly my brother and my friend Kurtis helped me pick my team but still my name is on it so I am winning!

Sorry for the lame no picture post. I promise I will be a better blogger!!

Oh ya, I am also on a softball team and boy do I have a story, it involves my face, a softball, and 6 stitches. I will tell more later :)

Frustration & Apollo

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but right now I just need to let it out. I am seriously struggling with some of my roommates. We just do NOT get along, and I like to think I am a fairly easy person so get along with. In all my semesters with all of my roommates it has never been like this. The truth is, I have been so unbelievably blessed with amazing roommates in the past that this time it is hard. So now I am clashing big time with these new girls, and I am getting upset when I am at home and that is suppose to be the place I can relax. UGHH! So frustrating, I am trying hard not to make this a gossipy post. (Even though I would very much like to do that)

But fear not!! I have two great girls who do live with me and I have neighbors who let me come over whenever I feel I am going to go crazy, and I have the wonderful Carriage House 108 apartment whom I love and we have a pretty great time together. So the truth is, apartment life can be tough sometimes but I will get through it. Not a problem :)

Anyway! During the Oylmpics I got pretty into it and I am in LOVE with Apollo Ohno! He is so stinking great and humble and I love it! So some friends and I decided for his last races we would try to look like him...

soul patches (drawn on with eyeliner), and bandanas!! (we didnt have enough bandanas but Stephanie had do-rags so some people used those)

His famous yawn! I was just trying to really understand what it was like to be him :)

GO USA!!

I'm Back!!

I know what you are all thinking. "Where the heck is Anessa? I wish Anessa would blog about her really exciting life." Well folks, your wish is my command! I'm back and better than ever!

I have been so busy this semester I am taking 18 credits and working 20 hours a week, so pretty much I have ZERO social life. And its winter time in Rexburg which means that life is miserable. But I am not going to be a negative nancy about it all because guess what?!? It has been amazingly warm and sunny here for the past couple of days. I went to library, got all my homework done, and then went and ate lunch in the park with my roommate! I love the sunshine. So needless to say I am in a super great mood now. And I am about to buy my plane ticket for the break between semesters. I was trying to decide if I should go home or if I should go to Portland to visit my Aunt and Sullivan...

But look at that face! How could I not go to Portland?? I think my decision has been made. Sorry Mom, but you would do the same thing.

Thankful

"Somedays we forget
to look around us;
somedays we can't see
the joy that surrounds us.
So caught up inside ourselves
we take when we should give.
There's so much to be thankful for."

Nothing like a little Josh Groban to bring that holiday cheer! I am thankful for so very many things I have in my life. The blessings I have are abundant and I want/try to express my gratitude in every way possible. So here is my list of thanks for this year (in no particular order)

1. Yup, you guessed it my Father in Heaven, the gospel on this earth today, and for being born at the time that I was. Am I so certain that this was the best time for me :)
2. My family. I have a great one even if at times I have a strong desire to give them all giant noogies! I love them anyway. My brothers are some of the craziest people on the planet but they sure do keep me entertained.
3. My friends. Let's be honest here, everyone thinks they have the greatest friends on the plant but I hate to break it to you all. But mine TOTALLY WIN!! No one will ever make you laugh so hard, or make you feel so beautiful, or care so much about you as my friends do. I absolutely love them. Gotta rep Camden 4!! (Okay, I promise I have other friends too but I couldn't get anymore pictures on here.)
4. My sister- yes, it is true that I do not have a biological sister but that doesn't mean anything to me and my very best friend Amanda Jane. If any of you know us together you know that we are pretty ridiculous, but thats what makes us so great! I love this girl to death and she is seriously the best!
5. All the wonderfully inspiring women in my life, you will never know what amazing examples you are all to me! You are all amazing mothers, friends, sisters, and testimony builders. Thank you for being who you are.
6. And most of all, I am thankful for the love that I receive from everyone around me. Whether you all know it or not you are amazing influences in my life and I am that much better for knowing you all.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Eat lots of pie! And take lots of pictures, I need something to look at while I am blog stalking ;)
